Why families get stuck, and what their family office can do about it
12:00 BST Online
Succession rarely stalls for technical reasons. The documents can be drafted, the structures can be sound, and the transition still does not move. This session looks at what is actually holding it up.

The session
Succession plans tend to be treated as a technical problem. Draft the instruments, agree the structure, set a date. The work that decides whether any of it happens is usually elsewhere, in who is ready, who has not said what they think, and whose timetable everyone is really working to.
Catherine opens by setting out the ground succession actually covers: ownership and leadership, decision rights and authority, new roles, capability and readiness, timing, family relationships, values, the technical build, and what happens if something goes wrong before any of it is finished.
The discussion then turns to where families and their offices get stuck: readiness that is uneven across the family, what sits beneath resistance, how to prepare people without forcing a timetable, and the traps offices fall into when they reach for structure before intentions are clear.
One hour, online, with time for questions.
